NISMO

Stewart, the owner of the fabrication company LeaskSpec, contracted us to help design a series of logos that encapsulated the old school feel of the 1980s and 90s NISMO aesthetic. Based on this and other criteria we worked closely with Stewart to translate these concepts into reality.

In order to maintain that vintage Japanese racing style, we discussed utilizing a variety of poorly worded English sayings that embraced the historically bad translations that accompanied many of the most famous designs such as the BOMEX one seen here.

REALIZE THE VISION

The initial logo developed utilized a custom made NISMO inspired font alongside the main concepts of LeaskSpec; BNR32 representing the primary chassis that he develops parts for and embraced the philosophy of Stewart’s company. This was later printed on vintage styled pullovers.

BECOMING THE CHAMPION

Continuing the theme of 90s and Nissan’s legendary racing success, this logo took inspiration from the winner’s circle hats and apparel seen in Formula One, NASCAR, and many other motor sports series. This particular logo, I wanted to convey two messages: LeaskSpec Racing and the tagline “Champion of Nineties Racing” while maintaining legibility of both. Stewart utilized this logo for sweatshirts and winner’s circle hats.
